Welcome to your official aftercare guide from Finesse Hair & Beauty By Coco. With the right routine and products, your extensions will stay soft, glossy, and tangle-free for longer. Please read carefully — proper care is essential and forms part of our customer guidance.
Washing Routine
GUIDANCE STEP 4
- Wash your hair 2–3 times per week using gentle, sulphate-free shampoo.
- Before washing, detangle using a wide-tooth comb and separate the bonds or rows.
- Always wash with your head upright (a shower is best) and smooth the shampoo downward — do not scrub or twist.
- Apply conditioner only from mid-lengths to ends, avoiding the bond or sewn areas.
- Pat dry gently — never rub the hair harshly with a towel.
Drying
GUIDANCE STEP 5
- Apply a leave-in conditioning spray before detangling.
- Mist a heat protectant through the mid-lengths and ends. Around the roots, use a light mist only — avoid saturating bonds or tapes.
- Dry the bonds completely after every wash — damp bonds can weaken and cause shedding.
- Blow-dry the bond/row area first on cool/low until fully dry.
- Use a paddle or vented brush for drying; use a round brush on mid-lengths to ends only, keeping it away from bonds.
- Hair tools should not exceed 185°C.
Day-to-Day Activities
GUIDANCE STEP 9
- If using a sunbed, wrap your hair in a towel to prevent heat exposure from drying the bonds.
- After gym sessions or sweating, gently cleanse and dry your scalp — never leave bonds damp.
- Avoid prolonged humidity from saunas or steam rooms without drying your hair immediately after.
Swimming & Holidays
GUIDANCE STEP 10
We do not recommend swimming with extensions. Chlorine, saltwater, and UV rays can dry, fade, or damage hair and bonds.
If you do swim:
- Tie your extensions into a braid or bun using a covered band.
- Avoid submerging the bonded area where possible.
- Rinse thoroughly in fresh water immediately after swimming.
- Avoid brushing when soaking wet; detangle once towel-dried (around 80% dry), starting at the ends.
- Finish with a light leave-in or protein spray for protection.
Maintenance & Refit
GUIDANCE STEP 11
- Schedule a maintenance check every 4–6 weeks to review rows or bonds.
- Do not wear extensions for longer than three months without removal or refit — hair growth can cause tangling near the roots.
- Regular check-ups help ensure healthy growth and prevent matting or slippage.
- Typical timelines: tapes 6–8 weeks; wefts/microrings 6–10 weeks, depending on growth and care.
